ETL were appointed by Crest Nicholson for the supply installation and commissioning of the complete electrical services installations, in the construction of a total of 230 one- and two-bedroom apartments over 6 number new build, high- and low-rise accommodation blocks adjacent to the canal bason in Sherbourne Wharf Birmingham City Centre

There are also two large underground car parks under 5 of the blocks with roller shutter security on the entrances

Services installed by ETL:

  • Installation of the main suspended ladder rack system through the basement car park areas in 5 of the blocks, to carry the main DNO supply cables from the local onsite substation to the individual distribution points in the risers of each block

  • Installation of main cable tray systems up the risers to each floor for the installation of the main DNO cables for the apartment meters

  • Installation of cable tray systems to carry the sub main cables from the meter positions in the risers to each individual apartment distribution boards

  • Installation of the submains from the riser meter positions to each apartment

  • Installation of all submains from the DNO panels to all the various main panel boards, secondary distribution boards and sub distribution boards for the landlords’ communal areas.

  • Complete electrical installation to all 230 apartments including mechanical ventilation by a mixture of MVHR & MEV systems installed with solid flat duct system

  • Installation of BT fibre optic cables from the main DP in each block to each apartment

  • Installation of 4th utility fibre optic cables from the main DP in each block to each apartment

  • Small power distribution to socket outlets and heater supplies throughout the whole building along with all tray containment for mains and sub mains cables

  • Power supplies to the lifts in all blocks including secondary supply to fire fighting lift in the high-rise block along with automatic changeover facility

  • Electrical heating to all apartments, lobbies, stairs, and circulation corridors with programmer controls

  • Power supplies to all items of Mechanical plant and equipment including sprinkler systems, water storage pumping facility, roller shutter doors, traffic light systems and car park extract systems

  • Low energy LED Lighting installation throughout the whole building with automatic pir detection devices

  • External lighting consisting of ground lights, bollards, columns and building mounted flood lights with automatic photocell controls and override facility

  • EV charging points in the underground car park area

  • Complete AOV smoke extract system to all 6 blocks with indication panels at each main entrance, consisting of both natural and fan assisted extract on the high-rise blocks with run and standby supplies and automatic changeover facility

  • Manufacturer and installation of Fire Rated Ductwork to naturally vent the basement stair lobbies in the car park areas to the external atmosphere

  • Complete Door Access system for all 6 blocks with Paxton fob readers at all external doors

  • Complete CCTV system with internal and external IP cameras with DVD backup storage facility

  • IRS system and TV twin coax Cabling to all apartments to enable Sky facility
